The Micromax Canvas 6 may look good, but in everything else it’s just an average smartphone with less than 15 KB.
MICROMAX CANVAS 6 DETAILED REVIEW OF THE
Micromax has come a long way. From the typical budget smartphone manufacturer to a company that really accepts global brands. However, Micromax has recently encountered many obstacles, especially from Chinese manufacturers. The company has decided on a complete rebranding, led by Micromax Canvas 6, the company’s first metal smartphone. Are you competing again? I found this during a week with this phone.
Construction and design
The Micromax Canvas 6 has similar ergonomics to the OnePlus One, although it is made of metal instead of sandstone. Unlike most other phones (especially from Micromax) in the price range below 15 kb, the Canvas 6 has a much bolder design. The edges are not bent or rounded, there is a beautiful bevel along the edges, and the rear view camera is located on a glass border on the back. There are no nooks and crannies, even the two buttons on the cover and the sandblasted back of the phones feel quite high-quality.
It feels like a mid-range flagship. However, in a week of use, I had the feeling that the buttons on the body were a little difficult to use. In addition, the on / off switch did not respond to pressure for days. Meanwhile, the fingerprint scanner was the only way to unlock the phone. The power button began to respond after three days.
Display and user interface
The Canvas 6 has a good display, but it is not without flaws. It has a good color rendition, but it is a little warm. The viewing angles are also good, but the screen is quite reflective and makes problems in sunlight. The visibility of sunlight is usually not excellent and there is no Gorilla Glass protection here.
When it comes to the user interface, there are no significant changes compared to what we have seen in general at Micromax. The only exception is the Around service, which is now integrated into Micromax devices. You can use it to order groceries, buy products, call taxis, book flights and much more. It is available on the far left of the home screen, where several other companies place organized content and news feeds. It has a simple and intuitive interface and is easy to navigate. Overall, it’s a nice addition. The rest of the interface is quite familiar and offers only minor changes compared to the standard Android interface. It’s good to be familiar with the interface, and Micromax does well here.
Before we continue, there is a feature worth mentioning: Turbo Download. According to Micromax, this feature provides better download speeds for larger files by combining Wi-Fi and 3G / 4G data. However, in my tests with the function enabled, the device was downloaded via Wi-Fi or mobile data, and never via both. This is a good feature in theory, and possibly an isolated problem, but it requires more thorough testing.
