The Honor 5c is a good smartphone that does a lot of good things, but unfortunately has nothing that sets it apart from the competition. It offers good performance, camera, ergonomics, battery life and is overall a pleasant device. The absence of frills makes it a very simple, easy-to-use and convenient device and deserves to be considered first. 10,999.
DETAILED REVIEW OF THE HUAWEI HONOR 5C
When we were testing the Honor 5x a few months ago, there were a number of aspects that we did not fully appreciate. The device had a noticeable jerking, the camera was out of class, and even the general build quality, although it was made entirely of metal, was not worth anything to appreciate it. A few months have passed since then, and budget smartphones have raised the bar higher than before, with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 2 leading the way.
The Honor 5c here is a testament to the improvements and efforts that brands are now making to make inexpensive devices that are worth recommending. Compared to the Honor 5x, the Huawei Honor 5C now has a better metal construction, a slightly different design and much more. Let’s take a closer look at Huawei’s current budget smartphone, the Honor 5c.
Construction and design
The Honor 5c basically uses a similar chassis, but with a different design that feels refreshing in the face of the competition. The Honor 5C has rounded edges on the sides and on the back, which makes the device easy to hold. The form factor also makes it smaller than many other devices, although the edges around the screen may have been a little thinner, which makes the device even smaller. It has a thickness of 8.3 mm and weighs 156 grams. All these factors make the device very ergonomic, easy to hold and operate, although nothing is really remarkable.
The quality of the metal used in the construction feels much better than on the Honor 5x, and the scratched metal plates at the top and bottom of the back contribute to the overall design of the smartphone. Striped lines also run along the sides, which facilitates both the design and the grip. The standard design includes the volume control and the power button on the right, the dual SIM tray on the left, the 3.5mm audio connector on the top and the microUSB on the bottom.
The buttons offer a decent return and do not feel fragile in any way. The dual SIM compartment houses a dedicated SIM slot and a SIM card slot, as well as a hybrid memory card that allows you to expand the memory up to 128 GB.
In short, the Honor 5C has a decent build quality, a slightly different design and a practical ergonomics that makes it easy to touch it with one hand or put it in your pants pockets without having to notice.
