DETAILED REVIEW OF SAMSUNG AX5000

Samsung released its AX5500 air purifier in October as air pollution in India increased. With the help of its new device, the company has ensured compliance with all necessary requirements for filtering harmful particles in the air, and is also equipped with a carbon filter to remove harmful gases. One of the most difficult challenges for any manufacturer of air purifiers is to develop a product that allows clean air to circulate evenly in the room. Samsung engineers have applied a completely unique three-way approach to airflow with their new air purifier. However, we will check whether the air purifier is working properly or not.

CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN

The Samsung AX5500 is an air purifier that is sure to be noticeable due to its rather large size. It almost looks like a half-tower fan that might not fit into your home decor, but that doesn’t mean it’s poorly designed. The body of the device is made of ABS plastic, which is durable and will not break if accidentally hit the walls. However, the device needs to be stored in one place, and as long as you move around the house, its durability should not be a problem. Samsung has also installed wheels on the device, which makes it easier to transfer to another room of your home. This is definitely a good addition to the device, as the AX5500 weighs 11.6 kg.

The air intake of the air cleaner in the front and the entire front panel can be removed to open the filters installed on it. This plate is magnetically attached to the main body of the device and can be easily removed and inserted back in. There are three vents, one of which pushes clean air out of the device, one on top and two on each side.

It is difficult for manufacturers of air purifiers to ensure uniform circulation of clean indoor air using the device, but the Samsung AX5500 solves this problem in a unique way. This lets in the maximum amount of clean air at the top, and although the two side exits are relatively smaller, they also let in clean air at a significant rate. As a result, the air is supplied with considerable force in three directions, preventing the formation of a small air bubble, to which air purifiers are usually exposed.

In short, the design of the Samsung AX5500 is similar to what we’ve seen in most air purifiers. However, it has a few minor additions and tweaks that add functionality to a softer design. Keep in mind that the design of the air purifier is important in many ways not for aesthetic reasons, but, first of all, to ensure good performance. In fact, the design of the device plays an important role in ensuring good air circulation, which leads to cleaner air circulation and healthier air quality. This applies to all air purifiers, but this is just one aspect of several factors affecting the operation of an air purifier.

filter

The Samsung AX5500 filter is a combination of an activated carbon filter and a HEPA filter. This is the same configuration that we saw on the Blueair Classic 280i, and it certainly works fine, depending on the implementation. A combined filter can be as effective as two separate standard filters, and also less complicated when it comes time to replace it. In addition, Samsung decides to place a carbon filter in front of the HEPA filter in its combined filter, which is a wise decision, since the carbon filter lasts much longer than the particulate filter.

The AX5500 is equipped with a pre-filter that captures dust, pollen, animal hair and other larger particles. The only problem here is to clean it once every two weeks, depending on the type of pollution prevailing in your area. We used the air purifier continuously for about a week, after which the pre-filter was filled with dust, animal hair and dandruff. This is a good sign that the pre-filter is working properly, extending the service life of the following filters.

One thing should be noted: the area where the filter is installed forms a waterproof seal. This means that the efficiency of the air purifier increases because no air passes through the filters. This seems like a fair price, as the device’s filters work for over 8,500 hours. However, this figure depends on the level of air pollution in your home.
