The HTC 10 is the best flagship that HTC has been developing for a long time. It is on an equal footing, and sometimes even better than its competitors, but it may not be enough. The battery life is not great and although the camera is good, it is not always reliable. However, it is the best phone for audiophiles.

DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE HTC 10

HTC’s smartphone business has recently sunk into oblivion. Several reports have told the story of a company in a downward spiral, but HTC is not giving up. The HTC 10 is expected to lead the company’s portfolio this year, and with that, HTC has focused on reinforcing everything it does well and correcting some of what has always been bad.

The HTC 10 is a great phone, and this shows what HTC is capable of. However, I dare to say that HTC needed it to be perfect, which is not the cover with the HTC 10. I’ll start with the best and work my way down.

Audio quality: a phone for audiophiles…

If you are an audiophile, you probably have high-end headphones, which means that you can take full advantage of the 24-bit DAC installed on this phone. However, the best thing for me is that you don’t have to spend a fortune on your headphones for Boomsound to make them better.

I tested the HTC 10 with a Sony MDR-100ABN headphone and Mee Audio M6. HTC 10 creates an audio profile based on your listening habits when you connect a headset for the first time. You can also do this for other headphones, but the option will appear only when the headphones are connected.

Assuming that the quality of the tracks being played is good (192 kbit / s and more), the HTC 10 gave me the best audio quality I’ve ever heard on a phone. Not only is it louder than the others, but the sound is also delightfully clear, highlighting each frequency. This is quite affordable and sounds much better with the HTC 10 than with an iPhone SE. On a pair of mi In-ear Pro headphones, the effect is less, but on HTC 10 the sound is much more solid. While the difference between the HTC 10 and the iPhone SE is harder to see, the difference between it and a OnePlus is huge.

At this point it should be noted that I am not an audiophile myself and that you don’t have to be an audiophile to know that the HTC 10 is better than its competitors. Other smartphoenes look pretty disappointing after the tenth, even if they use the same Mee Audio M6 headphones.

However, there are certain prerequisites for this. The first, of course, is a good set of headphones, while the second is high-quality audio tracks.

No matter how good the sound quality of the headphones is, without them the same can not be said about the audio of the phone. HTC Boomsound also includes a tweeter at the top and a woofer at the bottom. But without headphones, the sound is loud, but without low frequencies (bass).

All audio upgrades have one more drawback. Although it’s easy to listen to music with headphones, HTC 10 requires more battery than usual for long hours. When I listened to music continuously for two hours, I lost about 30% of the battery. I have been on the phone at times and there have been three calls, but the battery consumption seems to be a little higher than the others.
